Dr. Ju Long

Biography

Dr. Ju Long earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Business Administration from Renmin University of China, a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan, and a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from the University of Texas at Austin. She joined Texas State University in 2004 as an assistant professor, earned tenure and promotion to associate professor in 2010, and was promoted to full professor in 2020. In 2025, she was awarded the Steven R. “Steve” Gregg, Sr. Excellence Professorship.

Her research centers on artificial intelligence applications in healthcare and business, with a focus on AI-enabled patient support systems, generative AI in business applications, and human–AI collaboration. She also investigates technology adoption, user engagement, and motivational factors that influence how individuals and organizations embrace innovation. Her work has been published in leading outlets, including IEEE Computer, IEEE Software, Computer Methods and Programs in Biomedicine, and Journal of Healthcare Management.

Dr. Long has been principal investigator, co-investigator, or senior personnel on projects totaling more than $1 million in funding from the National Institutes of Health, Microsoft, and other agencies. Her contributions have been recognized with multiple nominations for the Texas State University Presidential Awards: for Excellence in Scholarly/Creative Activities, Excellence in Teaching, and Excellence in Service.

Dr. Long has held multiple leadership positions in the McCoy College of Business, including Assistant Chair, Interim Chair, and Chair of the Department of Computer Information Systems and Quantitative Methods. She has also served the broader university community as a Faculty Senator and Chair of the McCoy College Governance Committee.
