Biography
Dr. Bingyang Zhang joined Texas State University as an Assistant Professor in the Ingram School of Engineering in Fall 2025. He earned both his Ph.D. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. From 2021 to 2024, Dr. Zhang was a postdoctoral researcher in applied biomechanics at the School of Integrative Biology, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Prior to joining Texas State, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Cornell University.
Research Interests
Mechanics and characterization of soft materials and biological materials; Theoretical and computational fracture mechanics; Damage and failure behavior of soft polymers; Biomechanics of natural stingers and animal protective structures; Design and fabrication of bio-inspired functional materials and soft composite materials.
