Biography
Dr. Mohamed Amar serves as the Director of the Engineering Management Doctoral Program and is an Associate Professor of Instruction in the Department of Engineering Technology at Texas State University. In this role, he provides academic leadership for the doctoral program while teaching, mentoring, and advising graduate students in engineering management. He is responsible for advancing the program's strategic vision, curriculum development, and student success while fostering interdisciplinary research and industry engagement.
Dr. Amar's teaching and research interests span engineering management, risk and resilience, sustainability, data analytics, decision sciences, and operations management. He teaches graduate-level courses in Risk Management and Resilience Analysis, Industrial Sustainability and the Circular Economy, Engineering Data Analytics, Decision Making Under Uncertainty, Supply Chain Management, and Research Methods. His work emphasizes the application of data-driven decision-making, resilient systems, and sustainable engineering practices to address complex organizational and industrial challenges.
Dr. Amar holds two Ph.D. degrees: a Ph.D. in Construction Engineering and Management (2017) and a Ph.D. in Industrial/Biomedical Engineering (2015). He also earned two master's degrees: an M.S. in Construction Engineering and Management (2016) and an M.S. in Industrial Engineering (2010). He completed his undergraduate education with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (2004).
