Biography
Dr. Gabriel Duckels is an Assistant Professor of Children's and Young Adult Literature at Texas State University. He was previously an Early Career Research Fellow at Fitzwilliam College, University of Cambridge.
Research Interests
My research interests include the history of children's and young adult literature, with a particular interest in the politics of "problem novels." My scholarship often engages with the cultural history of HIV/AIDS in the United States and its role on the politics of childhood and adolescence.
Teaching Interests
I teach critical approaches to children's and young adult literature. I am also passionate about teaching students how to engage with theory in order to develop robust argumentation in their thoughts and writing.
