Biography

John is a nationally recognized Human Resources expert and best-selling author. His textbook, Human Resources Management: Functions, Applications, Skill Development with Sage Publishing, co-authored with Dr. Robert Lussier, is one of the top ten Human Resource Management texts in the U.S. The fifth edition came out in July 2025.

John consults with businesses in the areas of Human Resources, Family Business, Entrepreneurial ventures, and Strategic Analysis and Planning. Over the course of the past twenty-five years, John has provided professional assistance in the start up and operation of dozens of businesses, along with cities, government agencies and public utilities. In addition, he has nearly twenty years’ experience as an operations and logistics manager, business owner, and U.S. Navy Supply Corps Officer.

Research Interests

Intersection of human resources with small business, management, family business, and entrepreneurship. Most start-up businesses wait until far too late to delineate their HR strategy.
