Biography
Feng Hong received his PhD degree in Civil Engineering with a Transportation focus from the University of Texas at Austin in 2007. He joined the Civil Engineering program at Texas State University (TXST) in 2022. Before joining TXST, he worked at Texas Department of Transportation for 15 years. He received multiple academic and service awards from graduate study through his professional career. He is a licensed engineer in the State of Texas.
Research Interests
Feng Hong's technical work covers the following interdependent four aspects:
Transportation infrastructure management: integrated management information system, deterioration modeling, life-cycle analysis, optimal management policy, asset management planning, infrastructure resiliency.
Pavement design and analysis: empirical design approach, mechanistic-empirical design approach, rehabilitation design, reliability-based design.
Technology-enhanced infrastructure testing and evaluation: non-destructive testing, automatic data collection, structural and functional performance monitoring, and evaluation.
Roadway materials: performance-based hot-mix asphalt testing/evaluation/design, recycled asphalt pavement material, in-field material performance, sustainability evaluation.
He has conducted numerous researches himself and with students as well involved studies with the universities in Texas and research institutes and industries nationwide.
