Biography and expertise
Crystal Brewer, MSN, RN, is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the St. David's School of Nursing at Texas State University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing Education from Concordia University Texas and is currently pursuing a PhD in Nursing at the University of Texas at Austin. Her clinical background includes emergency nursing, trauma, critical care, home health leadership, and military emergency response.
Mrs. Brewer teaches across the undergraduate nursing curriculum and has served as course lead for acute care, complex health, leadership, capstone, and interprofessional education courses. She is particularly passionate about simulation-based learning and clinical education, using immersive experiences to strengthen students' clinical judgment, communication, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, Brewer brings a commitment to service, teamwork, resilience, and leadership to her educational practice. Her scholarly interests include clinical judgment, patient safety, simulation, and nursing education. She is dedicated to creating supportive learning environments that foster student success, professional growth, and well-being while preparing future nurses to provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care.
