Biography

Dr. Richard Wiley is an Assistant Professor of Instructor. He joined Texas State University in Fall 2021 as per a Per Course Lecturer and promoted as a full-time faculty member in Fall 2022. Dr. Wiley received his PhD in May 2025 from the School of Social Work at Louisiana State University. He received an MBA in Business Management from Newman Universiyt, an MSW in Social Work from Washburn University, an MA in Sociology from Wichita State University, and a BA in Psychology from Wichita State University.

Research Interests

Hip Hop Therapy and Hip Hop Based Interventions, African American youth issues, African American males and mental health, African American fatherhood, Race and Ethnicity.

Teaching Interests

Race and Ethnicity / Human Diversity and Oppression, Mental Health, Human Behavior in Social Environment, Research Methods, Social Work Practice and Policy.
