Biography

Dr. Al-Tameemi originally from Baghdad, Iraq. She came to the United States to pursue her Ph.D in Mathematics in 2005. She received her Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of North Texas in Denton, TX. in 2011 under the supervision of Dr. Robert Kallman.
Dr. Al-Tameemi joined the Department of Mathematics at Texas State University in Fall 2018, and now she is serving as an Assistant Professor of Instruction. Previously, she served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics at Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas, from 2011 to 2018.

Dr. Al-Tameemi has served as a QM and iQM member for more than 10 years. She is a Quality Matters Master Reviewer and Peer Reviewer and has developed the expertise to design and teach successful face-to-face and online mathematics courses.

Dr. Al-Tameemi's research area focuses on Topology, Dynamical Systems- especially Chaos Theory, and STEM Undergraduate Educational research. She is committed to developing STEM educational programs to advancing undergraduate research in STEM fields. She is passionate about working with underrepresented students and has successfully mentored them to preparing for careers in STEM disciplines. She has also contributed to the development of a WIN-STEM-focused program centered on Writing Intensive (WIN) courses, an area in which she has extensive teaching experience. In addition, she serves as a reviewer for several academic journals.

When asked why you like Mathematics? she says: "I realize that it is all down to my personality. From a very young age, solving problems and identifying patterns has been something I have enjoyed. I am extremely enthusiastic about my decision to teach Mathematics at a university level, Math has always been my main academic interest subject. So, what is my philosophy of teaching mathematics? Mathematics is useful, Mathematics is beautiful, and Mathematics disciplines the mind."

Research Interests

I am primarily interested in Dynamical Systems, Chaos Theory, Topological Groups, Topological Dynamics and STEM Education.

Teaching Interests

- Teach Graduate and Undergraduate Math Courses.
- Design and develop courses in traditional, WIN, hybrid, and online formats.
- Develop course materials and assessments to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Implement various technologies to foster interactive and engaging learning experiences.
