  • Associate Professor at English, College of Liberal Arts

Biography

Dr. Julie McCormick Weng specializes in the study of 20th century Irish literature and culture, with a particular focus on the varied reception of emerging sciences and technologies in modernist texts. She is curious about how past approaches to science and technology can inform how we understand them today. These ideas are reflected in her coedited books: Science, Technology, and Irish Modernism (Syracuse University Press, 2019) and Race in Irish Literature and Culture (Cambridge University Press, 2024). Her work is also featured in Modernism/modernity, Journal of Modern Literature, Éire-Ireland, Joyce Studies Annual, and elsewhere. At Texas State, she enjoys teaching a wide range of courses in modern British and global Anglophone literatures. She also serves as Secretary of the American Conference for Irish Studies.
