Biography and education

Stephanie T. Solansky, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Management at McCoy College of Business. Her research passions are leadership, teamwork/collaboration, wisdom, temporality in organizations, and complexity theory. She has published in top tier journals in the field of management including journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Human Relations, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business Research, Leadership Quarterly, and Management Learning.

Dr. Solansky has been honored in her teaching, research, and service endeavors with the following awards and recognitions: 2024 Boka Advisor Appreciation Award; 2022-2024 Endowed Professorship- Garland Hunnicutt Professor of Management; 2023 McCoy College Achievement Award in Teaching; 2021 McCoy College Scholarly Achievement Award; 2020 Texas State University Presidential Distinction Award in Teaching; 2019 McCoy College of Business Advisory Board Teaching Excellence Award; 2018 FBD Southwest Academy of Management Best Paper Award; 2017 Academy of Management MSR Outstanding Reviewer Award; 2016 Honorary Membership in the National Society of Leadership & Success; 2015 Bloomberg Businessweek Research Award; 2012 Academy of Management MED Division Best Paper Award; Academy of Management Conference Best Paper Awards 2012 (PNP Division) & 2011 (MED Division); 2011 Bloomberg Businessweek Teaching Award; 2007 Academy of Management Journal Best Paper Award.

Dr. Solansky’s professional experience outside of her role as a professor include: Director for a multi-million dollar leadership professional development program in which over 1000 organizational administrators were trained; consulted with organizations on behavioral, decision-making and strategic issues (Fortune 500, public sector, small businesses, and non-profits); worked as a purchasing agent in a public corporation. She is also regularly invited to serve as a keynote speaker or panelist due to her work in the area of leadership development.
