Biography

Dr. Autumn Guel holds a B.S. in Organizational Leadership & Management, an M.S.I.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Organization, Workforce & Leadership Studies, and a Ph.D. in Adult, Professional, and Community Education.

She serves as an Associate Professor of Instruction in the College of Education at Texas State University, where she teaches and designs courses in Adult, Professional, and Community Education (APCE), Human Resource Development (HRD), and Integrated Studies (INTS). Her work focuses on career development, adult learning, and lifelong education, with a strong commitment to helping students connect their academic experiences to their professional goals and personal growth.

She brings extensive experience in higher education, having served in a variety of roles at Austin Community College (2005–2012) and Texas State University (2012–present). In 2017, she transitioned into a full-time faculty role in the College of Education, where she currently teaches in the Integrated Studies and Adult, Professional, and Community Education programs.

Her teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that education should empower learners to recognize their strengths, envision their possible selves, and build confidence in their ability to thrive. This perspective informs her course design and mentorship. Her research interests include career readiness, adult learner identity development (possible selves), Human Resource Development (HRD), instructional design, and experiential learning.
