Biography and education

As an Associate Professor of Instruction in the College of Education at Texas State University, I have the privilege of teaching and designing courses in Adult, Professional, and Community Education (APCE); Human Resource Development (HRD); and Integrated Studies (INTS). My work centers on career development, adult learning, and lifelong education, with a commitment to helping students connect their academic experiences to both their professional goals and personal growth.

My teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that education should empower learners, encouraging them to recognize their strengths, envision their possible selves, and build confidence in their ability to thrive. This perspective also guides my approach to course design and mentorship.

My research interests include career readiness, adult learner identity development (possible selves), instructional design, experiential learning, and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in education. I am passionate about exploring how these areas intersect to support learner development and meaningful learning experiences.

Since joining Texas State University, I have been honored to receive the Presidential Distinction for Excellence in Teaching (2023) and the Teaching Award of Honor (2020). Beyond my teaching and research, I actively contribute to university and college committees, mentor adjunct faculty and students, and participate in national professional organizations such as the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education (AAACE).

I enjoy connecting with colleagues and professionals who share interests in education, adult learning, leadership development, and emerging technologies, and I’m always open to meaningful conversations and collaborative opportunities.
