Biography

Dr. Sidney "Skip" Anderson is an Associate Professor of Marketing. He earned a PhD in Marketing (2016) from Florida State University after receiving his MBA (2011) and B.S. in Computer Information Systems (2000) from the University of Central Missouri.

He is the Scott Emerson Professor of Business Administration (2025-2027). This three-year professorship will allow him to advance McCoy College's strategic AI-related goals by conducting high-quality research, curriculum development, and faculty and student learning initiatives.

From May 2024 to May 2025, he led the McCoy College Task Force 4.0, which was a multidisciplinary team of faculty and industry professionals charged with creating a roadmap to guide the college’s response to the growing impact of AI technologies. In this role, Skip collaborated with faculty, administrators, and industry partners to determine how AI-related content can be integrated into the curriculum to keep pace with industry and student demands. This involved a strategic approach to embedding AI in business education, ensuring our students are equipped with the necessary skills to thrive in an AI-driven market.

Skip's research interests include 1) the impact of artificial intelligence on health & wellness, 2) employee/consumer adoption of AI, and 3) marketing's impact on societal challenges: sustainability, climate change, wildlife crime, healthcare. His work has been published in Decision Sciences, Psychology & Marketing, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Macromarketing, Journal of Business Research, International Journal of Operations & Production Management, Journal of Marketing Analytics, Health Marketing Quarterly, Journal of Retailing & Consumer Services, Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice, Journal of Strategic Marketing, Journal of Service Management, Journal of Services Marketing, Service Industries Journal, Health Services Management Research, Journal of Research in Interactive Marketing, Marketing Education Review, Journal for Advancement of Marketing Education.

He is a research fellow in the Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship working on the SCALEUP program, a Texas State University initiative that is designed to research the factors that restrain minority-owned business growth, and develop remedies to address obstacles.

Skip is a Data Governance & Management expert with 22+ years of experience in strategizing, developing, and implementing data governance, data management, and data migration projects. He has a passion for implementing trusted sources and repositories of data that can be relied on to make data-driven decisions. He is proficient at ensuring data quality, privacy, security, and regulatory compliance. His hands-on experience working at multiple organizational levels with both functional and technical stakeholders allows him to translate functional requirements into technical specifications. Skip excels at envisioning and implementing the strategic use of data and facilitating a data-centric culture. He is a technical consultant who is adept at migrating data using Informatica, Python, SQL, and advanced Excel techniques. His consulting expertise includes data conversion/migration and systems integration. He consults with firms to assist in formulating migration strategy and creating migration environments.
