Biography

For more than three decades, Todd Mackenzie has devoted his professional career to the advancement of high-quality, person-centered care for older adults. His work is grounded in the principle that dignity, compassion, and meaningful human connection are essential to effective leadership and excellence in long-term care.
Todd currently serves as Executive Director of Morningside Ministries – Menger Springs, where he provides executive leadership for a continuing care retirement community, overseeing operations, clinical services, regulatory compliance, and organizational culture. His leadership reflects a sustained commitment to ethical practice, operational excellence, and resident-centered outcomes.
Previously, Todd served as Executive Director and Austin Market Leader for Brookdale Senior Living®, with responsibility for two Austin-area communities, Brookdale Lakeway and Brookdale Westlake Hills. In this capacity, he provided regional leadership, strategic oversight, and operational direction. Prior to Brookdale, he played a foundational role in the development of Remington Medical Resorts, opening the organization’s first rehabilitation facility in San Antonio and later serving as Chief Executive Officer in Dallas. Earlier in his career, Todd led Deer Creek of Wimberley for 11 years, successfully transforming the organization into a stable, high-performing, and respected long-term care provider.
Todd’s professional contributions have been recognized through multiple honors, including Texas Health Care Association Administrator of the Year and designation as an American Health Care Association Future Leader of America.
In addition to his executive leadership, Todd has maintained a longstanding commitment to higher education. Since 2004, he has served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Texas State University–San Marcos, contributing to undergraduate and graduate instruction in long-term care administration. From 2014 through 2020, he served as Coordinator of the Long-Term Care Administration Graduate Certificate Program, where he provided academic leadership, curriculum oversight, and student mentorship.
Across both academic and professional settings, Todd’s work reflects a deep respect for older adults, families, interdisciplinary teams, and the communities he serves. His career represents an integration of scholarship, leadership, and practice aimed at advancing excellence in senior living and long-term care.
