Biography
I got my BS in math at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, then my PhD in math from Syracuse University in upstate New York.
Research Interests
When geometric objects in an ambient space 'should' intersect, Bézout's theorem tells us precisely how many times they will intersect. What about when they shouldn't intersect? I call this the "excess intersection problem", and very little research has been devoted to answering this question, relative to how easy it is to grasp the formal statement. I provided some new answers in my thesis using a very geometric perspective, and I hope to provide additional new answers in the future.
