Biography and expertise
Dr. Roya Salehzadeh is an Assistant Professor in the Ingram School of Engineering at Texas State University, where she directs the Human-Centered Robotics and Neurotechnology (HCRN) Lab. Her research develops closed-loop human-robot systems in which robots continuously infer the cognitive and affective state of the people they work with and adapt their behavior in response. Her lab couples neurotechnology, including EEG-based brain-computer interfaces, eye tracking, and physiological sensing, with robot decision-making and learning, so that signals such as attention, workload, perceived safety, and trust directly shape how robots plan, act, and communicate. This work spans collaborative manipulators, aerial robots, and social robots, with applications in manufacturing, emergency response, and agriculture.
