Biography and education
Rachel Madeleine Turgoose is a dynamic jazz voice educator, performer, and entrepreneur dedicated to expanding access to high-quality music education.
Rachel holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education and a Master of Music in Jazz with an emphasis in both Voice and Saxophone. Her performance career includes appearances at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, as well as international touring as both a vocalist and instrumentalist.
At Texas State University, she teaches jazz voice and contemporary vocal styles, bringing energy, artistry, and real-world performance experience into the classroom. She is committed to developing versatile singers who are technically grounded, stylistically fluent, and creatively empowered, with a teaching approach that emphasizes consistency, artistry, and performance readiness, equipping students with the tools they need to succeed both on stage and beyond it.
Alongside her work in jazz voice, Rachel is the founder of RMT Music, a music education company that partners with school districts and serves students nationwide through in-person and virtual instruction. Her work there is built on the same student-centered philosophy she brings to her studio: practical, engaging teaching that builds confident, expressive musicians.
Through RMT Music's virtual lessons, digital courses, and live support programs, Rachel has also built a growing national presence in online music education, helping beginners and advancing musicians alike overcome fear, build skills, and rediscover the joy of making music. Her programs are known for being accessible, supportive, and results-driven.
