Biography
Musfika Sultana is a Graduate Instructional Assistant (GIA) in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Texas State University. She specializes in development communication, digital media, and international public relations, with research interests at the intersection of communication, artificial intelligence, ethics, and cultural narratives.
Musfika is currently pursuing a MA in Digital Media Communication at Texas State University. She previously earned both a MA and a BA in Journalism and Media Studies from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh, where she also received multiple merit scholarships for academic excellence.
Prior to joining Texas State, Musfika served as Communications Focal Point for the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Bangladesh. In this role, she led high-level strategic communication initiatives, coordinated visibility for international missions, and contributed to the development of Bangladesh’s first National SDG Communication Strategy and Action Plan (2024–2030). Her work included managing media relations, producing multimedia content, hosting podcasts, and leading campaigns that strengthened UNOPS’ national and regional presence.
Musfika has published a Peer-reviewed, Scopus-indexed international journal, “Social Media Rumors in Bangladesh” in the Journal of Information Science Theory & Practice (JISTaP). She also serves as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Applied Journalism & Media Studies.
In her leisure time, Musfika enjoys scuba diving, traveling, and capturing human experiences through photography, cinematography, and creative storytelling.
