Biography and education
Janice Suter is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Texas State University, where she teaches Advertising Media Planning and Advertising Campaigns. She brings decades of professional experience in advertising and social media strategy into the classroom, grounding academic concepts in real-world industry practice.
Prior to teaching, Suter spent over 20 years in the agency world, most recently building and leading an award-winning social media practice at GSD&M in Austin. Her work includes leading teams behind culture-defining moments such as the Popeyes Chicken Sandwich Wars and the Stanley Cup TikTok “Car Fire” - both recognized for their strategic rigor, operational excellence, and business impact.
Today, alongside her consulting practice, Janice designs hands-on coursework that connects audience and cultural insight, platform strategy, creative development, and measurement frameworks. Her courses emphasize critical thinking, professional presentation, and collaborative, real-world campaign development that prepares students for modern advertising careers.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Advertising from The University of Texas at Austin.
