Biography and Education

Teaching, service, and research in biological sciences have been central to my career. After earning a BS in Zoology with special honors in cancer research, I pursued a PhD and Postdoctoral Fellowship in the human infectious pathogens Shigella and Pseudomonas. Those experiences ultimately led to my focus in higher education -- teaching biology and microbiology to future wildlife, conservation, exercise science, healthcare, and computer science professionals. My strengths lie in my advocacy for science, health, students, and diversity, and I teach with gratitude for the experiences that have led to the intersection of my path with those of my wonderful students and this great institution.
