Biography and Education

I am both an educator and leader with a unique blend of academic and industry expertise. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor, I am dedicated to fostering student engagement, innovative teaching practices, and the development of practical, real-world skills in my field. My passion for education is driven by a commitment to preparing the next generation of professionals to excel in their respective careers.

Before transitioning to academia, I held the position of CEO at a national medical supply company, specializing in medical devices for nursing home patients. In this role, I demonstrated strategic vision and leadership, driving innovation, operational excellence, and business growth. My time in the industry honed my expertise in product development, regulatory compliance, and team management, skills I now bring into the classroom to enrich the learning experience.

With this unique perspective that bridges academic theory and professional application, my goal is to create an interactive and dynamic educational environment. Also, I am an advocate for lifelong learning and mentorship, inspiring students and colleagues alike.

I hold a DSc in Healthcare Leadership from The University of Alabama Birmingham, a Master’s of Business Administration from Christian Brothers University, and a Bachelor’s of Marketing from Louisiana State University.

I also hold a graduate certificate in Religions of the World from Harvard University, and a certificate in Business Process Design for Strategic Management from MIT: Sloan School of Management. These certifications reflect my commitment to continuous learning and a comprehensive perspective on both strategic leadership and cultural understanding.

My first peer-reviewed paper, "The Effects of the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM) and COVID-19 on Nursing and Therapy Staffing Levels among Skilled Nursing Facilities," can be found in the March 2025 edition of the Journal of Hospital Management and Health Policy

Outside of my professional endeavors, I enjoy hiking, watching movies, caring for my two pit-bull rescues, Sammy and Wilbur, and playing music. As a strong believer in resilience and personal growth, I am inspired by the words of Max Brooks from Devolution: “Adversity introduces us to ourselves.”
