Biography

I am Dr. Ishitha Kumar. I have completed my PhD in Finance from Emory University in 2024. Prior to this I have a PhD in Aerospace Engineering and, a Bachelors in Aeronautical Engineering and another in Mathematics.

Numbers are my passion, and Finance has a lot of them to keep me excited!

Research Interests

My research interests lie at the intersection of financial intermediation, FinTech, regulation, and labor markets. I study how regulatory frictions, technological change, and policy uncertainty shape bank behavior, credit allocation, misconduct, and firm-level innovation, using large-scale administrative and regulatory data. I am also interested in applied econometric methods, data engineering for large datasets, and translating research insights into policy-relevant and pedagogical applications.

Teaching Interests

Corporate Finance and International Finance. I am also interested in teaching methodology courses (financial econometrics, data analysis, etc.), FinTech and AI/ML .
