Biography
I started my career as a Certified Nurse Aide and worked my way up. I earned my Diploma in Nursing from Covenant School of Nursing and my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lubbock Christian University in 2011 and 2012, respectively. Since then, I have held several nursing positions as a staff, charge nurse, and team leader in acute care, cardiac telemetry/stepdown, cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU), and perianesthesia settings. I have also served as a nursing student mentor and preceptor for new nurses and assisted with supervisory tasks in conjunction with my daily nursing duties. Later in 2019, I obtained my Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on Family Nurse Practitioner and worked in Breast Oncology, Women's Health, and Cancer survivorship.
My primary passion has always been to teach since my father was a teacher and my mother was a nurse. This combination of skills and passion led me to academia to work with future-generation nurses by inspiring and guiding students throughout their nursing education. I am currently a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Texas Nurse Practitioners Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
