Biography and education
I was born on August 16, 1960 in Henderson, Kentucky. I attended Western Kentucky University, where I earned a BS in Biology with minors in Writing and Education. I served as a teacher of physical sciences and biology at Gladys Porter High School in Brownsville, Texas from 1985 to 1991. While in Brownsville, I attended the University of Texas - Brownsville, where I earned my MS-Interdisciplinary Studies in Biology, Sociology and Education. From 1991-1994 I attended Illinois State University where I earned my Ph.D. In Biological Sciences. In 1994 I was hired by Prince George's Community College in Largo, Maryland. From 1994 to 2021 I served as a Instructor of Biological Sciences was promoted from Assistant to Associate to Full Professor and was granted Tenure. In 2019 I assumed the role of Chair of the Department of Natural Sciences. I retired officially in 2021 after 27 years at PGCC. In 2024, I was hired by Texas State University where I am currently working as a Lecturer in the Biological Sciences.
