Biography and Education
PI - Md RafEUl "Shougat": Shougat is the principal investigator of DynaGence Lab, and a tenured-track Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering in the Ingram School of Engineering at Texas State University, where he will be joining from Fall 2024. His research interest lies in the areas of Soft Robotics and Controls, Nonlinear Dynamics, and Physics inspired Machine Learning.Prior to that, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at North Carolina State University, under the direction of Dr. Kara Peters. He completed PhD in Mechanical Engineering from NC State University (Spring 2023), where he was engaged in research on soft robotics, nonlinear system dynamics, control system, and artificial intelligence in LAB2701 under the direction of Dr. Edmon Perkins. During his time as a PhD student, He received several awards such as the Graduate Merit Award and Mentored Teaching Fellowship from NC State University, as well as the Woltosz Fellowship from Auburn University. His patented invention has garnered the support of a Montreal-based deep tech startup company, Echosonic. Prior to his doctoral degree, he completed his MS from the University of Minnesota Duluth (2019), and BS degree in Mechanical Engineering (2016) from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET)
