Biography and education

I earned my Certificate in Healthcare Technology Implementation Management from Houston Community College in 2012, along with the CHTS-IM credential from AHIMA. I went on to complete a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management from Texas State University in 2016, achieving the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential in 2017. To further advance my expertise, I obtained a Master of Science in Biomedical Informatics from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, School of Biomedical Informatics in 2019.

My healthcare career began in 2007 as an administrator in the medical transcription industry, working for both a transcription service and a distance education career college. In 2014, I transitioned into the technology industry, gaining experience in technical support, sales operations, data analytics, root cause analysis, project management, and quality assurance. More recently, I have applied these skills to health-related technical support and quality assurance projects, merging my background in healthcare and technology.

In addition to my professional roles, I stayed engaged in the healthcare community through internships in utilization review and regulatory compliance, service as a graduate teaching assistant during my master’s program, and volunteer work with HIMSS at global conferences.

Currently, I teach courses in Medical Terminology, Research and Data Analytics, and Quality Management in the Health Information Management program at Texas State University. I am enthusiastic about supporting students in their academic and professional development and look forward to contributing to future growth in health informatics education.
