Biography and Education
Dr. Abed Mikati is an assistant professor of instruction at Texas State University in the geotechnical area within civil engineering. Dr. Mikati received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the American University of Beirut in 2021. After that he spent two years as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Texas between 2022 and 2024. He has over 9 years of experience in research working on topics like ground improvement, soil characterization, centrifuge testing, soil erosion, geosynthetics and more. This includes in-situ work for most of the research he has conducted. Dr. Mikati also has over two years of experience in the industry, working on geotechnical consultancy projects (mainly in the US). As for the teaching part, Dr. Mikati is responsible for teaching Soil Mechanics, Infrastructure Foundation Design and other courses (Grad and Undergrad) here at Texas State University.
