Biography and Education

Thomas Greene is an Assistant Professor of Instruction in Religious Studies in the Department of Philosophy at Texas State University. He completed his Ph.D. from Florida State University in 2023 in ​Religion, Ethics, and Philosophy focusing on Comparative Religious Ethics. Before that, he received ​his Master's Degree from Boston College where he studied Catholic Moral Theology.

Research Interests

Thomas's dissertation and continued interest centers on comparing anti-colonial liberation theologies, specifically in Christianity and Islam. His major focus, thus far, has been on Latin American Catholic priests Gustavo Gutierrez and Camilo Torres, as well as Iranian Shia revolutionary Ali Shariati. Additional interests include political philosophy within religion and the foundations of human rights.
