Biography and education
I was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, and obtained my bachelor's degree in English from Texas State University in May of 2022. My last two years of the bachelor's degree were impacted greatly by the COVID19 pandemic, and I developed an academic interest for the study of Spanish language and culture. I then obtained a Master of Arts in Spanish from Texas State University in May of 2024, after passing my written and oral comprehensive examinations on Spanish linguistics and literature. During my time as a masters student at TXST, I have been the editor of our Academic Journal, Letras Hispanas, overseeing the submission/acceptance process, review process and formatting of scholarly articles and book reviews, I have participated in translation projects on behalf of university efforts to increase certificate granting programs, and I have also worked in the main office of WLL, answering e-mails, phone calls, and tutoring in Spanish. Since August of 2024, I have been a full-time lecturer in Spanish, where I have been shown the ropes of university education with people who were once (and always will be) my professors that are now also my peers.
