Biography
Dr. Park earned PhD in Nursing Science from University of Washington, Seattle, WA in 2013, MSN from Yale University, New Haven, CT in 2004, BSN from Husson University, Bangor, ME in 2002, and ADN from Red Cross of College of Nursing, Seoul, Korea. Dr. Park is currently appointed as an assistant professor in St. David's School of Nursing at Texas State University.
Research Interests
Dr. Park's research focuses on improving health among immigrant and global populations through culturally responsive, technology-enabled health interventions. In addition, she focuses on advancing healthy aging among older adults through community-based preventive care, health education, and culturally responsive exercise interventions. Her major ongoing research project advances culturally responsive care for immigrant populations by examining how acculturation, health literacy, and perceived discrimination influence diabetes self-management among Korean Americans, while developing and planning expansion of a culturally responsive intervention program for older adults, building on an eight-week health education and exercise intervention with Korean American older adults to improve chronic disease self-management, physical and mental health, cognitive function, and fall-risk outcomes.
