Biography and Education


Dr. Landers is from McKinney, Texas.

She received her PhD in Philosophy from the University of Miami in 2022. She was a Fellow in Philosophy at Harvard University in 2019. She earned her MA in Philosophy from Georgia State University in 2015 and a BA in Philosophy and Psychology from Texas Tech University in 2011.

Teaching Interests

At Texas State University, Dr. Landers regularly teaches in-person and online sections of Phil 1320: Ethics and Society. She also teaches seminars on topics such as Feminist Philosophy and Philosophy of Mind to graduate students enrolled in the Applied Philosophy and Ethics MA (MAAPE) program. At previous institutions, she taught Critical Thinking, Introduction to Philosophy, Biomedical Ethics, and more.

Dr. Landers also writes about pedagogy. Her paper "ChatGPT, The CUPID Model, and Low-Stakes Philosophical Writing" (2024) is about what instructors can and should do about ChatGPT in their classes and assignments. She's also written about her experiences and practices as an instructor in "Teaching About Abortion in the Southern US: A Personal Reflection". These papers are forthcoming in different special issues of American Association of Philosophy Teachers: Studies in Pedagogy.

Research Interests

Dr. Landers' primary research is at the intersection of philosophy, psychology, and vision science. She works on perception, especially visual expertise and the relation between thought and perception. One of her streams of research concerns the intersection of philosophy of technology and perception, especially work on virtual reality (VR).
