Biography and education
Mrs. Hillarie Garnier is a proud first-generation graduate of Texas State University and a passionate educator committed to guiding the next generation of public health leaders. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Instruction and Undergraduate Program Coordinator in the Department of Health and Human Performance, where she teaches public health courses grounded in real-world application and cultural relevance. Mrs. Garnier earned her M.S. in Public Health Education and Promotion from Texas State University and holds a B.S. in Health Promotion from Appalachian State University, where her commitment to health promotion first took root. Prior to joining the Texas State faculty, she built a career in emergency medical services and discovered her passion for teaching while training others through organizations such as the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, and the Health and Safety Institute. Her student-centered teaching philosophy is rooted in relevance, engagement, and purpose-driven learning. She is deeply committed to inspiring students to become agents of change in their communities and the broader public health field.
