Biography and education

Robert (Bob) Giacalone , Ph.D. is the Fields Chair in Ethics and Corporate Responsibility at the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University. Bob has taught a range of behavioral courses from business ethics to organizational behavior/human resource management, and international management—and has taught at the undergraduate, Masters (MBA, Executive MBA, MA in Human Resource Management), and doctoral levels. He is a passionate teacher who teaches beyond the course material and tries to imbue in his students a sense of responsibility, a desire for critical and creative thinking, and a yearning to reflect on where they fit in the world.

Bob has been the Series Editor for the Sage Series in Business Ethics, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Management, Spirituality, and Religion, and editor of several special journal issues. He is currently co-editor of the Ethics in Practice book series and serves on several journal editorial boards. He has edited/authored 10 books and over 130 articles on business ethics, social responsibility and values, impression management, and exit interviewing. His articles have appeared in journals such as the Academy of Management Learning and Education, Journal of Applied Psychology, Human Relations, Business and Society Review, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Business Ethics Education, and Journal of Social Psychology.

Bob has had consulting roles with large organizations in different sectors, including the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, PERSEREC, (a security division of the U.S. Department of Defense), FBI, Dominion Energy, Battelle, The Human Resources Research Organization, Noland Company, and the Federal Reserve Bank.

Bob has been married for 37 years and has three grown children. Outside of work, he enjoys movies, music, cooking and watching baseball. But his most enjoyable “hobby” is enjoying the company of people who like to exchange ideas and ponder the challenge and opportunities we face in our daily lives.
