Biography and education

Kelly Engram is an Assistant Professor of Instruction in Web Design and Publishing at Texas State University, where she teaches courses in front-end web development, digital content creation, and design for the web. She brings more than 30 years of professional experience in graphic design, digital marketing, and media strategy into the classroom, grounding instruction in real-world workflows, current technologies, and industry standards.

Kelly’s professional background includes extensive work in web design, HTML and CSS customization, email marketing, and data-informed digital campaign strategy. She has developed digital and print media for national automotive groups and has led integrated marketing efforts focused on audience engagement, conversion optimization, and ethical communication practices.

She began teaching at Texas State University in 2020 as an undergraduate teaching assistant, later served as a graduate instructional assistant, and joined the faculty as a lecturer. In Fall 2024, she was promoted to Assistant Professor of Instruction. Her academic achievements include a 4.0 cumulative GPA in her master’s program and recognition as Graduate Student of the Year in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication in 2023.

In addition to her academic work, Kelly is the founder and creative director of Prairie Fire Hair, a premium human hair wig brand serving women experiencing medical hair loss. This work informs her teaching through applied experience in brand strategy, e-commerce, UX design, product storytelling, and digital entrepreneurship.

Kelly also served as a creative consultant for the award-winning documentary Medicating Normal, contributing to the film's visual identity and promotional design. The documentary has received multiple honors at international film festivals.

Kelly holds a Master of Arts in Mass Communications and a Bachelor of Science in Digital Media Innovation, with a minor in psychology, from Texas State University. She lives in San Marcos, Texas.
