Biography and expertise
Isaac A. Torres is Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Sociology Department at Texas State University. His research and teaching explore questions of identity, educational experience, and social participation across educational and cultural institutions, drawing on interdisciplinary approaches including autoethnography and discourse analysis. Raised in California and Oregon, he draws on formative experiences within and around public education systems to examine the perspectives and lived experiences of individuals navigating institutional and cultural boundaries, with particular attention to educational pathways, exclusion, and belonging. He holds degrees from the University of Oregon and Texas State University.
