Biography and education
Isaac A. Torres is Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Center for Diversity and Gender Studies at Texas State University. His research and teaching engage questions of identity, exclusion, and resistance across educational and cultural institutions, drawing on traditions of critical pedagogy, autoethnography, and discourse analysis. Raised in California and Oregon, he draws on formative experiences at the margins of public education to examine the epistemologies of outsiders, with particular attention to the cultural and institutional narratives surrounding dropouts and nonconformity. He holds degrees from the University of Oregon and Texas State University.
