Biography and education
Lauren Dungan is from Denver, Colorado and is currently a Spanish Assistant Professor of Instruction at Texas State University with a demonstrated work history in higher education and international education. Lauren earned her M.A. in Spanish from Texas State University, B.A. in Spanish (Cum Laude) from Texas Christian University (TCU), and B.S. in Criminal Justice (Cum Laude) from TCU. While at TCU, Lauren spent 6 months studying and living abroad in Sevilla, Spain. The impact of this experience led her to move abroad again after graduation from TCU to teach English in Santiago, Chile for 6 months. This experience allowed her to compare and contrast the language and culture of Spain and Chile, including the nuances of Spanish linguistic variety in each country. In Chile, Lauren taught English to a vast range of ages, including grades Pre-K through 12 and Business Professionals. After returning to the U.S., Lauren worked for a Study Abroad Provider in Austin, TX for over 4 years, beginning as their Spain Program Manager and later becoming the Associate Director of Strategic Programs. Lauren joined the World Languages Department at Texas State in January 2021, first as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, and later as a Lecturer. In her free time, Lauren loves to travel and experience as much of the world's cultures with her own eyes as possible, which has led her to 36 different countries and counting!
