Biography and Education

Lorna Stafford is a lecturer in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Her expertise includes teaching the elements of foundational writing for media and public relations.

Stafford has 20 years of experience as a journalist for small, medium and metro print news organizations in Louisiana, Georgia, and Texas, and has served in various roles including editorial page writer, assistant metro editor, education editor and community editor. She has also served as assignment desk editor, digital content editor and senior producer at News 4 San Antonio, Fox KABB, and Spectrum News in San Antonio.

In addition, Stafford has nearly 10 years experience in the field of public relations serving at a major university in San Antonio as well as serving as the Director of Communications and Marketing for a community foundation in the city.

Stafford has a Master of Education from The University of Texas at San Antonio, and is completing her Executive MBA from Howard University. She is a graduate of the Maynard Institute for Minority Journalists, the Associated Press Managing Editors program, and the Associated Press Editorial Writers program.

She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and serves on various nonprofit boards.
