Biography and Education
I am originally from Lubbock, TX and have been in the Austin area since 1989. I received my associate's degree in General Studies from South Plains College. I completed my bachelor's in English and master's degree in Spanish at Texas State University. My first teaching experience was as a volunteer English teacher for a local Methodist church. I taught adults who were immigrants from various Latin American countries. After receiving my bachelor's degree, I went to Chile, South America where I taught English to junior high and high school students in Caldera, a small town in the Atacama desert. After arriving back in the U.S., I continued volunteering as an English teacher at El Buen Samaritano, a non-profit organization in Austin, TX. My years of study and exposure to the Spanish language drove me to complete a master's degree in the language and pursue a career as a Spanish teacher.Teaching Interests
