Biography and Education
Kris Toma was hired in 2006 as the first full-time University Archivist and Records Manager at Texas State University. She formally established the University Archives and is responsible for the administration of the unit, including appraisal and processing, donor relations, planning, and outreach. She created the university’s functional records retention schedule and offers records management training to employees each semester.Prior to joining Texas State, Ms. Toma was Archivist and Records Manager at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary (2000-2006), and Records and Archives Manager at SEMATECH, a semiconductor research and development consortia in Austin (1996-2000). She is a graduate of The University of Texas’ School of Information, with a certificate of specialization in archival enterprise. She has been a certified archivist since 1998 and began teaching HIST 5375O in 2015.
