Biography and education
Debbie Pitts is a lecturer in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications (SJMC) at Texas State University (TXST). She also teaches University Seminar each fall. In addition, she has served as the Marketing and Communications Coordinator for TXST's University Libraries since 2017.
Her early career began in athletics. She worked for ABC Sports at the 1984 Olympic Games and was an Assistant Sports Information Director for the University of Texas Men's Athletics Department for several years. Her career also included public affairs work for two municipalities and two state agencies all in Texas.
She has a passion for storytelling and loves guiding students as they seek to move from the college experience to roles as communications professionals.
