Biography and education
Stacy Stokes Batts earned her BSW and MSW from Texas State University in San Marcos. Stacy’s professional experience as a licensed practitioner of 27 years has focused on the field of substance abuse. She maintains two professional licenses in the state of Texas: Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC).
Ms. Stokes Batts worked in the non-profit sector for 15 years focusing on substance abuse classroom education, offender education program administration/instruction and curriculum development, prevention, intervention, as well as coordinating out-patient treatment programs both in the local community as well as inside incarceration facilities.
She worked for eight years in Higher Education - Student Affairs focusing on substance abuse education, sanction completion, leadership development, and academic retention.
Stacy has both adjunct instruction and higher education classroom presentation experience and began her full-time lecturer position in the School of Social Work at Texas State University in 2018. She has served as the BSW Associate Program Director from 2020 to 2023. Her practice interests within substance abuse include mental health, family systems and grief work. Stacy is the social work Code of Ethics consultant for Dancing Moose Productions, Inc.
