Biography and education
Dr. Shailen Singh is Associate Professor and Assistant Department Chair in the Department of Organization, Workforce, and Leadership Studies (OWLS) at Texas State University. His research examines the intersection of organization development and disability, with a focus on how caregiving roles shape parental identity. He is particularly interested in the ways parents of children with disabilities navigate the tension between caregiving and maintaining a sense of self beyond that role.
As Assistant Department Chair, Dr. Singh supports curriculum governance, fnew program development. Before joining Texas State, he spent 15 years in university administration at the University of Arkansas, Texas A&M University–College Station, and Texas A&M University–Central Texas in areas related to student affairs, first-year experience, student success, and disability services.
Dr. Singh holds a Ph.D. in Human Resource Development from Texas A&M University–College Station, a Master's degree in Higher Education from the University of Arkansas, and a Bachelor's degree in Communications from Texas A&M University-College Station. He serves in a variety of professional and community capacities, including on the editorial board of Disability & Society, the Texas Department of Health and Human Services Policy Council for Children and Families, and as a Family Faculty Member for Texas Parent to Parent.
