Biography and Education
Emily KyungJin Suh earned her PhD in Education Studies with a concentration in Language, Literacy, and Culture from the University of Nebraska. Dr. Suh is an Associate Professor of Graduate Program in Postsecondary Student Success in Learning, Literacy, and Mathematics. She also serves as Coordinator of English, Language Arts, Reading (and integrated reading and writing program) within the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Texas State University.Research Interests
Dr. Suh's research seeks to support practitioners and amplify language and literacy practices that promote equity and justice for marginalized populations through examinations of various educational contexts including postsecondary literacy learning, STEM family engagement, and two-year English teaching and professional development. Her work has been recognized with awards from the American Association of Applied Linguistics, the International Society for Language Studies, the Literacy Research Association, and the National Association for Developmental Education. She currently serves as the Lead Researcher in an Ascendium grant-funded collaboration between West Ed, Student-Ready Strategies, and the Texas Success Center.Selected Scholarly/Creative Work
