Biography
Dr. Eunjin ("Jin") Seo is an Assistant Professor of Human Development and Family Sciences at Texas State University, where she joined the faculty in August 2023. She earned her B.A. in Education from Seoul National University as a first-generation college student and came to the United States as a Fulbright Scholar to pursue her doctoral studies, earning her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin.
In 2026, she received the prestigious National Science Foundation CAREER Award, one of the U.S. government’s highest honors for early-career scientists and engineers, for her work developing interventions to foster growth-oriented peer cultures in STEM classrooms. She was also awarded the National Academy of Education/Spencer Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2023, one of the most prestigious early-career fellowships in education research, in recognition of her foundational work on peer mindset culture.

Research Interests
Dr. Seo's research focuses on youth academic motivation and the social contexts that shape students' educational experiences. Her current work examines how social and cultural messages about ability influence students' motivation, belonging, and persistence in education, with a particular emphasis on peer mindset culture in STEM.
