Biography

An educator and HR executive with 30 years of global experience, Kevin Lyman has held C-suite roles in prominent technology companies. Partnering with CEOs, boards and global teams, he has built talent at all levels, improved business outcomes, and evolved company cultures. As an experienced coach, Kevin is sought for his ability to help leaders set direction, get exceptional results, and create followership. And, as an educator, he is dedicated to fostering the next generation of business leaders.

Before joining the McCoy College of Business, Kevin was Principal at Lyman Talent Partners, an executive search, coaching and HR strategy consultancy. Previously, Kevin served for 8 years as Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Altera Corporation (San Jose CA), repeatedly named one of the 100 most innovative companies in the world. He personally recruited many top company executives; built a robust succession infrastructure resulting in 80 percent of executive roles being filled with internal candidates; created a differentiated rewards program enabling top-performer turnover below 2 percent for 6 years; and implemented a comprehensive HRM system in 20 countries in only 6 months.

Earlier, Kevin served as Senior Vice President of HR for AMD. During his tenure, he established and ramped major international manufacturing sites in Europe and Asia, and completed four acquisitions and two spin-offs as AMD became one of the top 7 global semiconductor companies.

Kevin’s government and community relations expertise includes chairmanship of the Central Texas Executive and Education Council, membership on the Chancellor’s Business Advisory Council for Foothill DeAnza College and St Edwards University, roles on the Semiconductor Industry Association Operating and China Policy committees, and time as a featured industry speaker for Invest in Germany

Kevin holds a Masters in Business Administration and Bachelors in Education and Psychology. He is a faculty member at the McCoy School of Business at Texas State University and previously at St Edwards University.
