Biography
Jennifer Scharlach is an Assistant Professor of Practice for the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Texas State University.
With a background of non-profit marketing, public relations, fundraising and event planning experience, Scharlach brings a real-world perspective to the role of teaching our next generation of public relations professionals. Scharlach enjoys working with clients and students to find solutions to business problems through relevant research and outside-of-the-box ideas.
Scharlach has worked in the non-profit public relations industry for over 20 years. Her partnership/research with the Texas Association for Mexican American Chambers of Commerce recently received statewide media coverage and was awarded the 2022 Translational Health Center award recipient. Her work on several public safety campaigns has been honored by receiving awards like the North American Boating Education Advancement Award, US Boating Education Advancement Award-Southern Region, Texas Public Relations Society - Community Relations Silver Spur, and National Water Safety Congress - Award of Merit. Scharlach’s public relations and marketing efforts at Texas State have been awarded the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) - District IV Silver Medal for Publication Design, and the CASE - District IV - Outstanding External Program for the Gold Book. In her spare time, Scharlach enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
