Biography and education
Dr. Phillip E. Davis earned his Ph.D. in management from the University of North Texas and has held faculty positions at East Carolina University and Texas State University. He is the currently the Associate Dean for Faculty Success and Research and an Associate Professor in the McCoy College of Business. He previously served as Assistant Chair of the Department of Management (2022-2023) at Texas State University. Prior to his career in academia, he spent 14 years in manufacturing, transportation, and banking in roles ranging from individual contributor to Senior Vice President and Executive of Supplier Relationship Management. His research focuses on organizational capabilities and agency issues in small businesses and other entrepreneurial ventures. He has published more than 15 peer-reviewed journal articles in journals such as the Journal of Business Research, Journal of Small Business Management, Journal of Business Venturing Insights, and Management Decision.
