Dr. Joel William Gray

  • Assoc Professor of Instruction at Chemistry and Biochemistry, College of Science & Engineering

Biography

I earned both my B.S. and Ph.D. in Biochemistry at Texas State University and Texas A&M University respectively. Since I joined the faculty at Texas State University I have worked hard to be a great instructor and have taught a number of different courses (Engineering Chemistry, Experimental Biochemistry, Biochemistry, as well as General Chemistry 1).

Starting this semester (Spring 2025) I am taking courses toward a Masters in Education with an emphasis in Education Technology. I plan to implement what I learn in these courses to develop more robust online courses to better serve the Texas State University student body.

Teaching Interests

I am interested in developing into a great teacher - my definition of what that is is that every single one of my students has a more positive impression of the class they take from me. I want my students to respect the course that they take from me and have better problem solving skills than prior to taking my class. I like to use active learning teaching strategies and try to provide consistent feedback for my students using a diverse set of technological tools.
