Biography
I am a U.S. citizen with dual Australian citizenship. I have a diverse background in delivering social services, as a primary producer, and in public administration including 8 years as a court appointed magistrate. I obtained a masters degree in Sociology from Texas State University in 2007, and since then I have been employed as a Senior Lecturer by the department of sociology at Texas Texas State University. I am ABD in the Ph.D. program in Adult, Professional and Community Education.
Research Interests
The effect of note taking skill acquisition on learning and self-efficacy. Investigating the influence of biological sex categories and sex role behaviors (gender) on patterns of participation in formal education, sports and leisure. Applying feminist theory to consider how the claims of trans-gender activists may affect the social class rights, status, and freedoms of biological females.
Teaching Interests
Incorporating and developing new online pedagogical techniques. Maintaining awareness of innovation in statistical learning approaches. Reading and discussion in emerging cultural expressions in sports and leisure. Working with students to encourage deep learning strategies for statistics and using A.I. or Large Language Models only when appropriate.
